On Wednesday, January 25, at 7:30 p.m. Berklee a Les Arts presents Incondicional at the Aula Magistral of Les Arts. Through original compositions of Berklee Valencia students we will explore our emotional journey when we are called to defend what we love and believe in, unconditionally.

Incondicional  is a concert inspired by Czech composer Leoš Janáček’s masterpiece Jenufa and brought to life through a collaboration with the Palau de les Arts and the students of Berklee Valencia.

Tickets are required to enter the venue, and are available here. The price of the ticket is 5 euros.

Berklee a Les Arts is a collaboration between Palau de les Arts and Berklee College of Music that offers the audience new meeting points for music and other artistic disciplines related to the pieces performed at Les Arts.

About Incondicional:

“I don't want to be at the mercy of my emotions. I want to use them, to enjoy them, and to dominate them,” said Oscar Wilde once. Emotions are what makes us human and what makes life unique.

For the second edition of Berklee a Les Arts we present Incondicional: an exploration of our emotional journey, when we are called to defend what we love and believe in, unconditionally.

Jenufa is a three-act Czech opera by Leoš Janáček which develops around a tangled set of relationships, in particular, three generations of one family. The story behind it is very human, and with a strong message around acceptance in a society tangled by social conventions aimed at taming and caging human emotions. The story of Jenufa is the story of a girl who made some socially unacceptable choices that brought great shame on her family. Will she be able to accept and be accepted when the worst acts have been committed?

Drawing from the themes of Jenufa, the students of Berklee Valencia compose their own original music and perform it in a very unconventional way. They tear down the wall between stage and audience and they ask difficult questions, while challenging the audience to be an active actor in the play.
