Housing in Valencia

Exterior of the MiCampus residence

All undergraduate students are guaranteed housing when studying abroad at Berklee Valencia, and our staff will make all the arrangements. Students reside in modern studio apartments located walking-distance from our campus. For reasons of safety, security, and logistics, most Berklee Study Abroad students are required to live in this Berklee-provided residence.

Students who need special accommodations should contact Berklee as early as possible to be connected with relevant resources. For accommodations related to health and learning needs, our Accessibility Resources for Students (ARS) team can be reached at the following email: accessibilityresources@berklee.edu

Apartment Residence Building

Our students live in a modern apartment residence called MiCampus Avenida del Puerto. The building is located in a tree-lined mixed residential and commercial neighborhood called Camins al Grau. Within three blocks from the residence, students can access numerous shops and restaurants, three supermarkets, several urban parks and plazas, a post office, and the Amistat metro station on lines 5 and 7 of the MetroValencia public transit system. The Berklee Valencia campus is roughly 15 minutes' walk to the south along a main avenue.

Single-occupancy studio apartment units come equipped with a desk, kitchen, and private bathroom. Sheets and blankets are provided with your room. The building includes a weekly cleaning service where bedding will be changed. A laundry room is available on-site for washing your clothes.

Courtyard of the MiCampus residence

A portion of the building’s apartments are reserved specifically for Berklee Valencia students, while other apartments in the building are used by students attending other universities in the city. This multicultural atmosphere enables our students to make connections with other university students from across Spain and Europe.

Apartment Security Deposit

Entry lounge of the MiCampus residence.

The property management company of the residence building charges a €500 security deposit. During the weeks leading up to their arrival in Valencia, study abroad students will receive an email about how to pay this deposit online before arrival. Assuming that there are no damages to the room, this deposit will be fully refunded to each student after they complete the study abroad experience and check-out from the residence.

Meals

Meals are not included with housing. Many students buy food at local supermarkets and prepare their meals at home. There are also many great cafes and restaurants close to the residence and near the Berklee campus. Food costs in Spain are considerably lower than equivalent costs in the United States. The typical prices of food and restaurants are often about 50% or 60% lower than what people normally pay in the United States.

A small cafeteria, known as The Cantina, is located in the basement level of the Berklee Valencia campus. For around €8 to €10 per meal, students can get breakfasts and lunches in the Cantina on weekdays when they are on campus. Throughout your semester in Valencia, you will likely get meals through a combination of going out, using the Cantina, and preparing your own food. See our page about Tuition and Related Costs for Study Abroad for more information about housing and meals costs.

Housing Dates

Housing is available from the first day of student move-in to the last day of student move-out, as indicated on the academic calendar. It is not possible to move into the residence before the study abroad program has begun, nor is it possible to remain in the residence after your study abroad program enrollment has ended. Study abroad students enrolled for the full academic year (Fall and Spring, consecutively) continue to have access to their room during the winter break period. They may stay in their room or securely leave their belongings there during the time between the Fall and Spring semesters.

Arriving at the Residence

Once you arrive in Valencia, the easiest way to get from the airport or main railway stations with all your luggage to the residence is by taxi. There are taxi stands at the airport and train stations. The cost of a taxi is usually around €30 from the airport, or around €15 from anywhere within the downtown area of the city. You can pay for a taxi with cash or by credit card. Tell your taxi driver you are going to the following address:

MiCampus Avenida del Puerto
Av. del Port 83
46021 Valencia, España

This address of the residence building will also be your mailing address where you will be able to receive mail and deliveries while in Valencia. Be sure that your name is clearly marked on anything being sent to you there.

Getting to Campus

The Berklee Valencia campus is located approximately 1.2 kilometers (0.75 miles) from the student residence. Students can bike, walk, or take the public bus to school.

  • Walk: Valencia is known for its beautiful weather, with more than 300 days of sunshine each year! Walking is a great way to travel to campus, while getting some exercise and soaking in the sun. Average walking time is about 15 minutes.
  • Bike: Many students take advantage of Valencia's public bike-sharing system called Valenbisi. The bike ride between the residence and Berklee Valencia is just about a 5-minute journey. For approximately €30 euros, students can sign up for a yearly pass that allows them unlimited use of bicycles, with the first half hour of each trip being free. There are Valenbisi stations located all around the city, including several that are close to the residence and to the campus.
  • Bus: Bus Line 40 of the local EMT public transit system passes next to the residence and has an average travel time of 15 minutes between the residence and the Albereda-Pont del Regne bus stop near Berklee Valencia. Upon arrival in Spain, students who are under the age of 30 can sign up for a monthly youth travel pass which provides free unlimited public transportation services throughout the city.
