Joshua Wheatley is a drummer and educator from England, currently based in Spain. He performs with SongAh Chae Trio while teaching at Berklee Valencia and ESMAR. Wheatley graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston and completed his master's degree at the Berklee Valencia campus in Spain. In 2017, he transitioned to faculty at the campus and released his debut album, Crisis. Wheatley released his second album, Joshua Wheatley 5tet Live at Jimmy Glass a few years later.
As drummer for SongAh Chae Trio, he has collaborated in master classes at Conservatorio Julián Orbón Avilés, Asturias, and Berklee Valencia. Wheatley performed with the trio at the London Jazz Festival in 2023 and recorded the album In The Beginning. Following the album release in January 2024, the trio toured Spain, performing at Circulo Bellas Artes de Madrid, Bilbao, Malaga, Sevilla, and Valencia. In 2025, the trio released the album Calling in the Wilderness. Wheatley continues to perform with the trio throughout Europe.
