In Their Own Words

Private Instruction classes focus on developing a foundation on the drum set from the American Jazz traditions of 1945 - 1960, and the progression of the European Jazz style of 1960 onwards. In addition to having a jazz foundation, I teach a pop/gospel approach that evolved from churches in America and contemporary live pop shows.

R&B Ensemble focuses on learning classic and contemporary R&B repertoire, knowing the role of the instruments, and the opportunity to write arrangements for the ensemble.

Pop Ensemble focuses on contemporary arrangements of classic and current repertoire that include complex harmony and rhythm based on the modern live arrangement style. Students have the opportunity to write arrangements for the ensemble.
