The second day will cover a vast array of topics on specific areas of the music industry that are vital to today’s musicians, such as Management: When Do You Need It? with Cindy Castillo from Gigntik and artist manager Rick Rogers; Copyright and Music Licensing in the European Union with lawyer, founder of The Napkin Idea, and Berklee professor, Tano Darias; Crowdfunding Strategies with Javier Lander from Merchanfy; Building an Audience on YouTube with engineer and entrepreneur Nicholas Salomone; and Demystifying Microphones and Recording Techniques with Berklee instructor Liz Teutsch. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet distribution experts at CD Baby, who will help them formulate a plan for releasing and promoting their music, and make sure they’re set up to collect money for their recordings from all the possible revenue sources. “Our goal is that they will walk away with a plan of action, connections, and a renewed sense of direction for their career,” said Emilien Moyon, director for the Global Entertainment and Music Business graduate program at Berklee Valencia.
CD Baby has previously held three DIY Musician Conferences in the U.S., including one in partnership with Berklee Online, that were all met with resounding success. Organizers aim to share the knowledge gathered through previous editions with European musicians and artists, and have determined that Berklee Valencia is the ideal partner to host this year’s conference, as the campus has been designed specifically for music and is equipped with state-of-the art technology.
