DISCOVER-i: Crossroads

Come join us at DISCOVER-i: Crossroads on Wednesday, November 29 at Sala Russafa! Entrance is free and on a first-come-first-serve basis; no tickets are required!

DISCOVER, the concert series that lets you uncover the best new performing talent at Berklee, and Innovation: En Vivo!, the concert series that allows you to experience the future of music now, have come together to bring you the new DISCOVER-i concert series.

DISCOVER-i is based on the collaboration between students from our four graduate programs; Contemporary Performance (Production Concentration); Music Production, Technology, and Innovation; Music Business and Global Entertainment; and Scoring for Film, Television, and Video Games, as well as the undergraduate community from the First Year Abroad and Berklee Study Abroad programs.

DISCOVER-i features outstanding performers with innovative techniques and creative presentations, always with the highest production standards, to bring you the most moving and memorable musical experiences. Because our students have a wide range of specialties and stylistic backgrounds, a DISCOVER-i concert evening can be very diverse. Concerts can be expected to include the highest level of musical, visual and production quality, including but not limited to solo acts to large group, electronically based compositions, video mapping, live DJs, audio/visual installations, acoustic/electric collaborations, and nearly every part of the show includes some form of visuals/projection.

DISCOVER-i concerts will be based on a theme, and students will be encouraged to submit applications which reflect that theme. The first concert this year is DISCOVER-i: Crossroads. Featured groups will be student-led bands, chosen by a committee through an application and audition process.

Quotes: John Stein… the poet of the classical jazz guitar (Dick Crockett “The Voice” — 88.7fm) What a gift this man has. He’s in an elite class: a mere handful of jazz guitarists who consistently put taste above chops and flash. John Stein has the ability to say so much more with less effort than most of his contemporaries can muster. (Wayne Everett Goins — Kansas City Jazz Ambassadors Magazine) Stein has the touch — a bond with the guitar that only comes from deep spiritual dedication to those strings. Playing a collection of songs so sweetly is a sign of pure musical intelligence. (Layla Macoran — Jazz Inside New York)
