Horacio Valdivieso Awarded IMC Scholarship to Attend Valencia

Horacio Valdivieso has been awarded the first full scholarship by the Instituto de Música Contemporánea (IMC), Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Ecuador, to attend the first master class program at Berklee College of Music, Valencia Campus. The Ecuadorian guitarist, arranger, and composer will study contemporary performance at Berklee's new international campus.

El Instituto de Música Contemporánea is the leading school of music in Ecuador. As part of the Berklee International Network, it has become one of the leading institutions for contemporary music education in South America. Since the creation of its music program in 1999, it has expanded from 26 students and two teachers to 31 teachers, instructing over 400 students from various countries across South America. Valdivieso, a graduate in contemporary music from the IMC, joins talented international students in the first master’s program in contemporary performance at the Valencia campus.

He was awarded the first IMC full scholarship for a master’s program at the Berklee campus in Valencia for his notable achievements in the Ecuadorian music scene, combined with his excellent work as a student at IMC. He is a dedicated and highly talented musician who was one of the best students in the guitar department at IMC. His academic commitment, together with his internal focus and drive, meant he graduated from IMC as a well-rounded and versatile musician, reaching an outstanding academic and artisitic level.
