Marjorie Scheker

Instructor Global Entertainment and Music Business

In Their Own Words

“My goal as a teacher at Berklee is to give students an overview of music publishing from the registration of splits to the licensing of a song in a visual medium. The understanding of how a copyright can be administered by various publishers and what their rights are is fundamental to students looking to break into the industry. With the influx of new apps, technologies, and mediums hitting the market every day, knowledge of music publishing and its parameters provides students with a competitive advantage over their peers. I have been working in music publishing, specifically sync licensing, in the U.S. and Spain for a decade and provide my students with real-life examples to bring issues to life.”
