Yoel Páez, instructor at Berklee's campus in Valencia, has been chosen among 20 drummers from all over the world as the drummer who will represent Spain in the 50th anniversary of Yamaha Drums. The Yamaha Drums Show #2 will be held in Paris this Sunday 26.
Yoel was graduated as a teacher and musician specializing in classical and modern percussion from the National School of Music (Escuelas Nacionales de Arte) in Havana, Cuba.
He has participated in festivals, sharing stages with stars such as Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Paul Simon, Herbie Hancock, and Michael Bolton, among others. In 2003 he was nominated among the best drummers of timba cubana. He was also member of the prestigious band Café Quijano (threetime Grammy nominee) during eight years in Spain.
