Clara Barberá, Student Affairs Manager and Movement for Musicians professor at Berklee’s Valencia campus performs as a member of acclaimed UK-based dance group New Movement Collective “Please Be Seated”, a piece created in collaboration with sound artist and fellow faculty of Berklee’s Valencia campus, Ben Houge (Music Production Technology Innovation Masters program) and furniture designer Jutta Friedrichs.
Performances will take place at London's Southbank Centre, Europe's largest center for the arts, on November 11th and 12th and at Theatre Royal Winchester on November 8th.
"Please Be Seated" had its preview in Valencia in May 31 (La Rambleta) and June 1 (Centre Cultural de Picanya) and these performances were produced by Clara Barberá with the help of Berklee’s Office of Faculty Development.
"Revealing the unexpected absurdity within everyday structures, Please be Seated is a darkly humorous and surprising mix of movement, animated structure and audio design."
"More than just an exploration of the comic, the work uses unexpected absurdity in theatrical expectation to create a journey that undermines and challenges conventional perception."
