On September 12, saxophonist and contemporary performance (production concentration) alumnus Mike Casey M.M. ’19 will showcase his trio’s genre-bending, funky, original jazz at the 10th annual Future Music Forum (FMF) in Barcelona. Joe Sturges M.M. ’19 (drums) and Ricardo Osorno M.M. ’18 (bass) will join him on stage.
The concert will start at 10:00 p.m. at Sidecar in La Rambla, and it’s free for FMF attendees and 12 euros at the door for non-attendees.
Casey describes himself as a melody architect. The New York–based, Berklee Valencia–trained storyteller, producer, and sonic alchemist is a multitalented force whose saxophone sound and use of phrasing reaches out and embraces your musical desires, one note at a time.
Bringing the joy of jazz across genre lines, Casey’s music passed 2 million streams in the first two years of his recording career in addition to being featured in the Huffington Post, Forbes, Music Ally, and Radio Primavera Sound. He also collaborated with Splice to create their first-ever saxophone artist sample pack.
The FMF is a global, three-day music conference that includes industry speakers from around the world, along with networking sessions, keynote presentations, panel discussions, workshops, and live showcases from Europe’s up-and-coming bands.
