After recently returning from a two-week residency with Andrew D’angelo, Ben Street and Gerald Cleaver in Guimara~es/Oporto, John has the opportunity to return to Portugal with his new quartet that features some of the most talented up-and-coming jazz artists. The quartet will be touring all over Portugal including Lisbon (the capital city), as well as the neighboring country Spain in cities such Cadiz, Madrid, Salamanca and Granada. Volunteer services will be a primary focus on this tour via master-classes in educational institutions as well as public community centers. The experience will culminate with a recording session at one of the most prestigious studios in Portugal (Porto).

All of the Artists involved in this project are Berklee students/graduates. They have worked as sideman for legends such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Danilo Perez, Terry Lyne Carrington, Lionel Loueke and Ben Street, all the while leading their own projects. They're interested in serving humanity, finding love and creating new musical dimensions to share with the listener. This music is designed to allow the musicians to react moment- to-moment, which creates uncompromising excitement for both the performers and listeners.

Bio: After leading his own rock band as a guitarist/vocalist in elementary school, John Egizi decided to pick up the trombone in middle school without realizing that his family had been playing the instrument for generations. Shortly after switching instruments, his father introduced him to jazz music, which Egizi became increasingly obsessed with. This obsession led him to attend LACHSA (LA County High School for the Arts) where he picked up the bass (acoustic/electric), began composing/arranging music both acoustically/electronically, and continued to develope his craft as a live performer while performing at places like the Monterey, North Sea, Toronto, Montreal and Playboy jazz festivals, and at the White House with artists such as Herbie Hancock, Wynton Marsalis, Christian McBride, Maceo Parker, Bobby Watson, Antonio Hart, Dianne Reeves.

After graduating from LACHSA, Egizi was awarded a presidential scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he currently resides, studying Performance/Electronic Production & Design. He has continued to perform with a wide variety of artists (Bilal, Peter Erskine, George Garzone, Ben Street, Joe Lovano etc.) while working as a core music tutor for Berklee and as a copyist/arranger for Onyx Productions (Ralph Peterson Jr.). Egizi plans on releasing his debut solo project before graduating from Berklee.
