On Tuesday, April 4, and Wednesday, April 5, at 7:30 p.m. Berklee a Les Arts presents the third and last Berklee a Les Arts of the 2022-23 season, The Kiss, inspired by Wagner’s celebrated work Tristan und Isolde, at the Aula Magistral of Les Arts.
Richard Wagner once said: “The artist of the future is not the individual poet, actor, musician or sculptor, but the work itself.”
The Kiss celebrates union. Choir and synthesizers, harp and strings, orchestral percussion and electronic drums, and music and dance all come together under the canopy of three questions, inspired by the transcending third act of the iconic opera: Can love flex time? Is there a safe place to love? Can art prolong life?
Under the musical direction of Viktorija Pilatovic and Joanna Kucharczyk, and the artistic direction of Magdalini Giannikou, the repertoire is drawn from artists that move us towards the sublime and the unreachable: Björk, Sufjan Stevens, Moses Sumney, and Silvana Estrada to name a few.
Teaming up with Barcelona-based dancers Isabel Álvarez and Nano Luque, students are part of more than a concert; a merging of art forms in order to create, in Judee Sill’s words, “a wind song, a sweet communion of a kiss.”
Berklee a Les Arts is a collaboration between Palau de les Arts and Berklee College of Music that offers the audience new meeting points for music and other artistic disciplines related to the pieces performed at Les Arts. Tickets are required to enter the venue, and will be available here beginning Monday, November 28. The price of the ticket will be 5 euros.
