Apiwe Bubu is constantly and consistently writing, producing and performing. He believes that creativity is the ultimate form of human existence and expression, and through living creatively everyday, one experiences the essence of being human.

He began his journey with early classical piano training in high school. At college level he completed a Sound Engineering Audio Training Certificate at the Inhouse Audio Training Institute in Johannesburg and later a Berklee Online Professional Certificate in Music Theory, Ear Training and Harmony. Equipped with these qualifications he worked in television media as a music composer for television show theme music, jingles and wrote for music libraries. He also worked in radio production at Sonovision Studio's as a sound engineer/designer servicing the top end of South African radio advertising agency's. He's Dj'd extensively in clubs, events and private functions whilst having also gotten jazz piano tutelage for 4 years with South African renowned and award winning jazz pianist Andile Yenana(Standard Bank Young Artist of the Year Awardee). He wrote music for the SAMA (South African Music Award)2011 winning debut album by Nomsa Mazwai "Nomisupasta", and traveled with various theatrical and musical groups to perform in countries such as Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique,Norway and the US.

He is a strong proponent and vehicle of South African roots music and its culture, believing that it is within this indigenous bed of sound that his purpose and calling are placed. He is excited and working to fuse modern impressions of jazz, orchestral and popular music with these age old stylings, and voicings of his homeland, South Africa. The well co-ordinated and pristine musical production of musical ideas is a key element of his creative process and resulting musical product.

As he now furthers his musicianship, writing, arranging, music production and engineering skills completing his fulltime study at Berklee College of Music in Boston and Valencia, dual majoring in Contemporary Writing & Production and Music Production & Engineering with a minor in Writing for TV and New Media, he finds no better place to learn and grow further.

"His value to the past, current and future of South African music writing and production cannot be overstated. He has a stunningly fresh approach, sound and style."
-Bakithi Khumalo(Paul Simon bassist).
