On Friday, February 28 at 7:00 p.m., Berklee a les Arts: A Voyage from Classical to Contemporary Music.
Students from the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía will travel to Valencia for the first time to join Berklee Valencia students on the same stage.
The concept of this concert is the voyage of Gioachino Rossini's music through Latin America. During the concert, we will enjoy rhythmic adaptations of Rossini's melodies set to different Latin American music styles. Don’t miss this night of jazz and classical music in a relaxed environment.
Admission is free until seating is complete.
The concert will consist of two parts. The first will be a Friedrich Gulda cello and wind ensemble concert interpreted by students from the Escuela Superior de Música Reina Sofía, with a rhythmic section by Berklee Valencia students directed by Víctor Mendoza.
The second part will be adaptations of Rossini's overture "Il viaggio a Reims" in tribute to Palau de la Música Il opera. This music has been arranged by the following students from Berklee Valencia: Neff Irizarry (Puerto Rico), Jungeun Ong (South Korea), Jorge Salas (Costa Rica), and Víctor Mendoza (Mexico), with an orchestration by Enrique Hernandiz Martínez.
Berklee Valencia will be represented by the following musicians: Neff Irizarry (electric guitar), Sungeun Ong (piano), Sean Oliver (bass), Lalit Kumar (tabla and congas), Jorge Salas Quesada (drums), and Víctor Mendoza (vibraphone).
