A symposium aimed to foster diversity, and equality of visibility and leadership between men and women in the music industry.
In February 2017, the Women and Conducting Symposium, organised by Berklee’s campus in Valencia, was held in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia. The event featured a wide array of globally renowned special guests, including Plácido Domingo and Nan Schwartz, who raised awareness on the unbalanced presence of women in the world of conducting and discussed strategies and initiatives to fight against it.
Alongside students from Berklee and other universities in Valencia, the event attracted government representatives and heads of key cultural institutions.
