A celebration of the musical heritage of the Mediterranean area and its influences and fusions.
The Berklee Mediterranean Music Institute and Berklee’s Valencia campus created the Mediterranean Roots Festival (Festival Raíces del Mediterráneo), an event featuring several Mediterranean music styles, including a variety of renowned performers in these musical traditions and unusual combinations with other genres.
The concert took place at the Teatre Martín i Soler in the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía, and it paid tribute to flamenco artist Paco de Lucía, featuring flute and saxophone player Jorge Pardo and flamenco singer Pepe de Lucía, who performed with a group of Berklee students. This performance was made possible thanks to the collaboration with Universal Music Spain, El País, and Casa Limón with the Paco de Lucía tribute album, Entre 20 Aguas.
