Berklee Brings Contemporary Music Education to Inspired Global Network of Schools

Inspired by Berklee will work with professors and students to develop contemporary music, dance, theater, and creative capacity skills at Inspired schools worldwide.
Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain, will be an active part of the program. Inspired has 64 premium schools around the world, 11 of them located in Spain.

Inspired by Berklee, a new partnership between Berklee and the Inspired network of schools, will match educators from Berklee’s faculty, student, and alumni base with faculty and students at Inspired campuses. They will work together to develop contemporary music, dance, theater, and creative education programs and experiences at participating schools. This partnership will go beyond the development of creative skills, encompassing different fields such as technology, media production, and creative entrepreneurship education.

In addition, Berklee will run annual workshops at its campuses in Valencia, Boston, and New York City for performing arts teachers at participating Inspired schools. The workshops will help advance their professional development and prepare them to teach the coming year’s Inspired by Berklee programming.

“Berklee has developed a powerful technique for teaching music, dance, and theater that emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and improvisation," said Berklee’s president, Roger H. Brown. "We are very excited about our relationship with Inspired schools. We believe it will enrich the education of these students, whether they go on to become scientists, business leaders, writers, doctors, lawyers, or proponents of the performing arts."

Maria M. Iturriaga, executive director of Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain, added: “It is very important for Berklee Valencia to participate  actively in this program. This opportunity allows us to complement the education of a new generation of creators, innovators, and future leaders at a crucial early stage of their lives.”

Inspired owns 64 premium schools around the world. Several of them, including Colegio San Patricio, Sotogrande International School, and the six King’s College Group schools that joined the network this fall, are located in Spain. The organization advocates for student-focused, holistic education, with students encouraged to discover their strengths and passions in academia, sports, and the performing and creative arts.

Inspired by Berklee will launch in January 2020, initially with a certain number of Inspired schools taking part in the program. It will be rolled out across all Inspired schools by September 2020.
