Berklee’s campus in Valencia, Spain, and BBVA have signed a collaboration agreement pledging to support and develop young talent, with special attention on education, innovation, and social commitment. The agreement is the result of both institutions identifying synergies in terms of education, sustainability, and institutional values.
“Berklee considers education as a fundamental pillar of an egalitarian, innovative, and socially and environmentally committed society.” said María M. Iturriaga, executive director at the Valencia campus. “This alliance with BBVA will help us to better prepare our students, both personally and professionally.”
David Conde, director of BBVA’s Eastern Territory Division, said that “joining one of the most reputable colleges in the world—a catalyst for talent, innovation, and diversity—allows us to materialize our purpose of creating opportunities. We are proud to partner with Berklee in supporting the professional development of hundreds of students, while working together towards a better and more inclusive future.
The relationship has already borne its first fruits with BBVA’s support of the Berklee Showcase Concert XIII, a virtual concert presenting the talent of Berklee Valencia students. The event took place last week and was streamed live on YouTube to close out the Berklee Global Career Summit. In addition, the agreement includes support for social projects with third-sector entities, seminars with artists and professionals from the music and the entertainment industries, and workshops promoting diversity, equality, and inclusion.
The agreement also opens the possibility for BBVA employees, and/or their clients, to attend certain Berklee Valencia activities, such as recording sessions, rehearsals, concerts, campus tours, and more.
